Biography

Dr. Black is a Research Scientist at Yale School of Medicine. She is an Educational Psychologist and quantitative methodologist with expertise is research design, psychometric measurement, assessment, and applied statistics. Her independent research uses ecological momentary assessment (EMA) to understand the temporal association between mental health symptom experiences and risk-taking, and to measure psychological processes that predict dropout from mental health treatment. She has received independent research funding from NIH and the Department of Veterans Affairs. As methodologist, Dr. Black is using the national Add Health data set to model the effect of parenting factors on sexual risk-taking among adult offspring of teen and later parents. Since 2008, Dr. Black has served as methodologist and data analyst on several NIH and VA-funded clinical trials.
